"Rose") McGowan was born September 5, 1973. She is an American
actress. McGowan made her debut film debut in 1992 in Encino Man (1992), and
was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award nomination in 1995 for her performance
as the dark comedy The Doom Generation (1995). McGowan's first film appearance
was in the horror movie Scream in 1996. Then, she appeared as the star of
Jawbreaker (1999), Devil in the Flesh (1998) and Going All the Way (1997).
McGowan's role as Paige Matthews on the WB supernatural drama Charmed
(2001-2006) was the most well-known part of her career. Quentin Tarantino
directed her double-feature film Grindhouse (2006), in which she received the
Saturn Award for Best Actress as well as the Scream Award to Best Scream Queen.
She was featured in the action-thriller series Chosen (2014) as well as
released her debut album, Planet 9, in 2018. The album was followed by a second
repackaging in 2020. McGowan was honored by Time as the Silence Breakers, the
magazine’s Person of the Year in 2017. She spoke out about harassment and
sexual assault and specifically the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse cases. In the
year 2018, she released Brave, a memoir, and appeared in Citizen Rose, a
four-part documentary series.
